ArtMandy Debut Fashion Show - "Aspirations"

 Debut Fashion Show – “Aspirations”

The show “Aspirations” was part of a bigger event, “The Libraries Night”, which took place at “George Barițiu” Library in Brasov – Kids & Youngsters Department. I chose this name since it’s a debut collection and it’s one of the first steps in reaching my goals on an endless and crowded road.

All this was possible thanks to some amazing people who I really appreciate: Mrs. Violeta Nedelcu (Romanian teacher), Mrs. Melania Butnariu (librarian), Mrs. Diana Mbatonga (art teacher), Andrei Burtea (hairstylist) and the gorgeous models Alexandra, Bianca, Andreea, Sara, Dora and Gabriela.

The collection

And now let’s talk a little bit about the collection. I wanted to create a small set of casual, classical clothes whose details will make them pop. I imagined that the one wearing my creations is a woman who loves to wear beautiful, unique garments, be elegant and feel comfortable at the same time. As a color palette, I chose black, a neutral color, and the three primary colors, red, yellow and blue, since these are the strongest colors of all, and they make some amazing contrasts.

Thoughts…

At some moments in your life, you will meet people who will do anything it takes just to be by your side and support you and people who will easily say “Next time. I’m busy.” The worst thing is when those in the last category are your closest friends. But that’s just another lesson I’ve learned at my debut fashion show last Saturday night.

Next step? Well, I have big plans for the near future! I’m thinking about opening a small online shop where you will be able to buy my designs. But until then, let me know what you think about the collection in a comment below!

The Asymmetric Dress

Today I am going to show you my latest creation: The Asymmetric Dress!
I must admit that being a perfectionist, I don’t always go for something that doesn’t have a regular shape. However, I feel that the asymmetry of this dress is somehow… symmetric.
The design of the dress was inspired by the futuristic fashion (something that has always fascinated me) and the movie Tron (2010).
To make it, I used white cotton and silver sequined fabric. I’m not a fan of sequins since they’re usually pretty kitschy, but these ones were extremely small (with a diameter of about 3 mm) and they gave a gorgeous illusion of a metallic fabric.
What do you think about it? Let me know in a comment below 🙂
